Which sausage has the better crunch?

On the 27th of June 1999, the "Bild am Sonntag" (German newspaper) published an article for its consumers. The headline was "Wurst-Maximilian" and Frank Friedrich was the tester of 12 different kinds of store bought sausages. Currywurst: the hot thick one

In an multiple page article the "Hörzu" (a printed TV journal) recollects the story of the Currywurst, Maximilian and Herta Heuwer in a loving way: "It was cold and rainy" remember Herta Heuwer. "The people at the time had little money and the sausages didn't suit my taste. The casing was made from artificial materials as there was no natural casing available after the war, we better not talk about the ingredients of the sausages themselves. As seen in the BZ (popular Berliner newspaper) August 2003. After a 2 weeks test by famous people, employees of the BZ and just ordinary Berliners Harald Köhring wins the "Golden Currywurst" of course he mentions Maximilian as his supplier and the secret recipe (article is in German). ...und der Sieger ist....
