The Berliner Curryurst
In the course of creating the Currywurst without casing, a historical detail needs to added to the history of the Currywurst:
Why make a Currywurst without casing?
The need for such a creation comes from the lack of resources after the war. The consequence was that Max Brückner developed a special technique to produce a Bratwurst without casing all because no pork gut was available at the time. Thanks to this invention in the year 1946 by founder Max Brückner, who was at the time located in the Erzgebirge, the foundation was layed (and a milestone) for the opening of Maximilian in 1949.
The "Spandauer ohne Pelle" (Spandau a district in Berlin "Spandauer without casing")
With the founding of Maximilian at the Pichelsdorfer Straße, Berlin–Spandau the Currywurst without casing started its triumphant success throughout all districts of Berlin known as the "SPANDAUER ohne PELLE!" and still today rooted in the minds of the population.
